What are Covid preparation workarounds when vendors are out of portable sign posts and hand sanitizer stands?
As they say, "Necessity is the mother of invention". Here are three cases of that from our local community.
Pictured above is an alternative to our signicade “outdoor sidewalk sign stand”. They took a type 2 barricade, and a well used one at that, and taped an 8.5"x11" paper sign to it that has a printed message about social distancing. This was displayed at a nearby park. It isn't beautiful, but it is cheap and fast and it gets the job done if the job is only to relieve one's self from liability and/or be compliant with some local ordinance.
Then there is the concrete in kid's play buckets that are being used at our local Best Buy. Sure it is downright ugly, but it does function in that it allows them to number their spaces for customer pickup. Also, right now stands like this are sold out all over the country. This isn't just a cheap-skate solution, but is likely the only quick solution that was available to them at this moment.
Finally, we have a plastic cabinet being used as a hand sanitizer stand at our local Hardware store. Again, not pretty ...but, very functional. They probably have a 5 gallon bucket of sanitizing hand jell inside that cabinet. They actually just cut a round hole in the top of what looks like a printer cabinet. In the long run they can switch to something more elegant.. but this gets them through a pinch.
